The eBRAM Simulated Mediation Training Workshop
eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre is pleased to launch our new " Simulated Mediation Training Workshop", led personally by the highly experienced barrister and accredited mediator, Jacky Lai (黎子健大律師).
This specialised course is tailored for candidates preparing for the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) General Mediator Accreditation Assessment. The programme offers systematic training in core mediation skills, in-depth exploration of key strategies for managing challenging situations, and intensive mock mediation exercises.
Through this focused, high-intensity practice, participants will build the confidence, techniques, and readiness needed to excel in both the accreditation assessment and real-world mediation scenarios, paving the way for a successful career as a professional mediator.
Individuals who have completed a 40-hour General Mediator Training Course recognized by HKMAAL, obtained the relevant certificate, and intend to apply for the General Mediator Accreditation Assessment organized by HKMAAL. (Remark: The certificate is valid within 3 years from the date of completion of the mediation training course.)
The course adopts an immersive teaching mode, combining theoretical consolidation with practical simulation, enabling participants to rapidly improve in a professional environment:
- Two-hour In-depth Review Session: At the beginning of the course, the coach personally leads a comprehensive consolidation of core mediation skills, including facilitative mediation principles, maintaining neutrality, effective communication strategies, and key points for handling defendants (such as managing resistant emotions, uncovering true interests, breaking deadlocks, etc.), laying a solid foundation for subsequent exercises.
- Group Practical Exercises: Conducted in groups of three, with each participant guaranteed at least one opportunity to act as the mediator and two opportunities to participate as a party. Real case simulations strengthen adaptability and skill application.
- Professional Individual Coaching and Feedback: After each mock case, the coach provides one-on-one targeted guidance, analyzing common errors made by candidates (such as deviating from neutrality, neglecting emotion management, etc.), and sharing practical improvement methods and examination tips to help participants precisely optimize their performance.
- Immersive Learning Experience: Simulates real mediation scenarios covering common types of disputes, allowing participants to train psychological resilience and decision-making abilities under pressure, significantly boosting real-world confidence and pass rate in the accreditation assessment.
