20 August 2025

On 20 August 2025, the Department of Justice (DoJ) successfully held the second round of the LexGoTech Roundtable under the theme:
“Navigating the Future: Barristers, Arbitrators and the LawTech & AI Revolution.”

Following the first roundtable in June, this session once again focused on the integration of LawTech and Artificial Intelligence (AI), aiming to explore both the opportunities and challenges faced by the legal profession while encouraging wider adoption of technology in legal services.

The roundtable opened with remarks from Dr Cheung Kwok-kwan, SBS, JP, Deputy Secretary for Justice, who highlighted the crucial role of LawTech in enhancing efficiency and promoting justice.

We were honoured that Dr Thomas So, Chairman of eBRAM was invited to speak at the roundtable. In his keynote sharing, Dr So:
✨ Analysed the current applications of LawTech and AI in dispute resolution
✨ Showcased eBRAM’s innovative practices and achievements in driving efficiency through LawTech and AI
✨ Emphasised eBRAM’s proactive initiatives in launching training and workshops to equip legal practitioners with the necessary LawTech skills

These initiatives not only deepen the sector’s understanding of emerging technologies but also lay a strong foundation for the profession’s future development—reflecting the legal community’s commitment to embracing innovation, upgrading skills, and advancing the rule of law.

The roundtable also featured lively discussions on opportunities, challenges, risk management, and future strategies in LawTech. The active participation underscored the profession’s shared vision of transforming legal practice while upholding fairness and justice.

The successful hosting of the second round of the LexGoTech Roundtable marks another solid step for the legal sector in Hong Kong towards embracing technological transformation. eBRAM will continue to foster innovation and collaborate with industry peers to unlock the full potential of LawTech and AI.
