AI Takes the Stand: Smarter Arbitration for a Smarter Age
24 October 2025
On 23 October 2025, we were honoured to co-host the seminar “AI Takes the Stand: Smarter Arbitration for a Smarter Age” with our valued partner, Jus Mundi. The seminar took place during Hong Kong Arbitration Week, bringing together professionals from the legal, technology, and arbitration communities to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming dispute resolution.
The seminar began with welcome remarks by Mr Raymond Ngai, Board Director and Chair of the AI Taskforce of eBRAM, and Mr Jean-Rémi de Maistre, Co-Founder & CEO of Jus Mundi.
The first panel, “Cross-Examination: The AI Challenge”, featured an engaging dialogue between Mr Jean-Rémi de Maistre and Mr Albert Leung FCIArb FHKIArb MIET MBCS CEng PMP®, Acting CEO of eBRAM. The speakers not only shared insights on the challenges and opportunities of AI in arbitration but also demonstrated the Jus AI platform, eBRAM’s ODR Platform, and the Hearing AI summarise technique, showcasing how technology is redefining the arbitration process.
The second panel, “Perspectives on AI in Arbitration,” moderated by Ms Yiwen (Wenny) Huang, FCIArb (Wenny), Secretary General of eBRAM, brought together Mr Horace Wong SC JP, Senior Counsel and Co-Head of Rede Chambers & Board Director of eBRAM; Ms Xiangshan GUO, Deputy Director of China at Jus Mundi; Ms Elizabeth Chan (陳曉彤), Consultant at Stevenson at Wong & Co and Mr Jack Ding, , Head of Firmwide Cross Border Dispute Resolution Group at Duan & Duan to share their perspectives on the evolving role of AI in arbitration practice.
An Interactive Quiz & Prize Session and a cocktail reception concluded the event, offering participants opportunities to test their knowledge and network in a relaxed setting.
The seminar highlighted the strong collaboration between eBRAM and Jus Mundi. In July 2025, our two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in legal and alternative dispute resolution, particularly through the application of innovative technologies. Today’s event embodied the essence of that partnership — fostering dialogue, collaboration, and new ideas to advance the use of LawTech and AI across borders.
eBRAM sincerely thanks Jus Mundi for their partnership, and all our speakers and guests for joining this co-hosted event. At eBRAM, we see AI not as a rival but as a partner — a force multiplier that helps us think deeper, decide quicker, and deliver justice with greater reach and humanity.
