Supporting IP Commercialisation and Legal Awareness in the Creative Industries
20 April 2026
eBRAM was pleased to be invited to participate in and contribute to the recent research launch and seminar titled “From Creativity to IP — Commercialisation of Local Creative IP: Current Landscape and Way Forward (由創意到IP—本地文創IP商業化挑戰與出路)”, organised by the The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. The event brought together industry practitioners and content creators to discuss the development and commercialisation opportunities of local creative IP.
As part of the research engagement, Mr. Alan Chiu, Member of the eBRAM Deal-Making Portal Committee, represented eBRAM at the event and shared views on key issues faced by Hong Kong’s creative talents and IP owners, including intellectual property protection, IP commercialisation, legal support, and market expansion. These areas align with eBRAM’s ongoing efforts to facilitate connections between enterprises and professional services through its Deal-Making Portal GoGlobal eHub, promoting cross-sector collaboration.
During the seminar, Mr. Chiu provided an overview of copyright risks and highlighted key considerations for protecting intellectual property. He emphasised the importance for creators to establish legal awareness at an early stage, particularly when commercialising works, entering licensing arrangements, and pursuing cross-sector collaborations.
The session also underscored the importance of effective contract management in collaborative projects, including clearly defining rights and obligations, licensing arrangements, revenue sharing, and scope of use at the outset. It was further recommended that appropriate dispute resolution clauses be incorporated into agreements to enhance clarity and mitigate potential risks.
eBRAM remains committed to supporting cross-sector collaboration, transaction management, and dispute prevention through LawTech, and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with stakeholders across industries to support the development of Hong Kong’s creative and film sectors.
