Case Team

eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre Limited is currently recruiting Counsel and Deputy Counsel for its case management team.

Counsel

As Counsel, your main responsibilities and tasks include:

  • administering cases actively, which includes organising and completing necessary documentation in the process of case administration, managing proceedings, organising case files, drafting and reviewing communications, liaising with parties, neutrals, arbitrators, mediators, etc, and monitoring the financial aspects of cases
  • reporting to the Secretary General and addressing any issues that arise
  • ensuring proper application of the relevant rules in each case
  • preparing documents relating to cases for eBRAM Committees’ decision
  • reviewing draft awards
  • moderating and assisting, or supervising the moderation and assistance to parties, neutrals, arbitrators, mediators during hearings / mediation sessions
  • proactively determining users’ needs to ensure an overall positive experience
  • providing internal and external training in collaboration with other eBRAM colleagues
  • supervising the handling of, or otherwise handling the subscriptions to the eBRAM Hong Kong Legal Cloud
  • supervising the handling of, or otherwise handling the panel lists and panel applications
  • liaising with IT team on providing IT support to users
  • reviewing and testing ODR platforms
  • providing feedback to IT team on ODR Platform usage
  • contributing to the development of the robustness and user-friendliness of the ODR Platform
  • any additional responsibilities assigned by the CEO / Secretary General from time to time

Ideal candidates should have:

  • a law degree in international arbitration, international law, dispute resolution and/or international commercial law,
  • a legal qualification (bar or solicitor admission), with minimum of 4 PQE,
  • an organised approach to work,
  • reasonable computer literacy and usage of office productivity applications,
  • be able to work well in a team, manage a team and also work independently,
  • excellent drafting and communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), and
  • overall excellent command of English and Chinese (knowledge of an additional language is an advantage).

Deputy Counsel

As Deputy Counsel, you will assist the Counsel in the administration of cases. Your main responsibilities and tasks include:

  • administering cases actively, which includes organising and completing necessary documentation in the process of case administration, managing proceedings, organising case files, drafting communications, liaising with parties, neutrals, arbitrators, mediators, etc, and monitoring the financial aspects of cases
  • reporting to Counsel on any issues that arise
  • ensuring proper application of the relevant rules in each case under Counsel's supervision
  • preparing internal documents such as case and issue summaries
  • moderating and assisting parties, neutrals, arbitrators, mediators during hearings / mediation sessions
  • proactively determining users’ needs to ensure an overall positive experience
  • assisting Counsel with providing internal and external training in collaboration with other eBRAM colleagues
  • handling subscriptions to the eBRAM Hong Kong Legal Cloud
  • managing panel lists and handling panel applications
  • liaising with IT team on providing IT support to users
  • any additional responsibilities assigned by Counsel or the CEO / Secretary General from time to time

IT Team

System Analyst

Position Background:

eBRAM is committed to attracting new talents to help transform our LawTech systems and operations. We’re now inviting a dedicated individual to join our information technology company to support the legal community in Hong Kong and beyond. As a member of the IT team, the role will participate in developing and maintaining our Deal-making platform, Legal Cloud platform, and flagship Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) systems.

We're looking for an experienced IT talent to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining our web and mobile responsive application platforms.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of the DevOps and Container Platform.
  • Participate in system design, development, deployment, testing, and implementation for new initiatives and functional enhancements on web application systems under DevOps environment.
  • Understand, evaluate, and internalize the latest cloud-native services, solutions, patterns, and related infrastructure and architecture to enable continuous improvement and enhance operational agility.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Associate degree or Higher Diploma holders in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • 3 years of system development and operation experience in React, Next.js, and Laravel with Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, and GitLab CI/CD workflows.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Azure, Linux, Windows Server, Shell Script, Docker Container, and DevOps architecture.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools for system and application performance is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, have a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills in English and Chinese.

eBRAM Internship Programme 2023-2024 - Dispute Resolution

eBRAM Case management team is looking for an intern to start as soon as possible. The internship is for a period of two to four months.

Tasks include

  • Read and draft documents related to arbitration/mediation cases in English/Chinese
  • Legal research and read legal documents in English or other languages
  • Preparation of conferences
  • Other assignments as requested by the team

Requirements

  • Qualification in international commercial law arbitration, with strong academic credentials and prior work experience
  • Proactive, outgoing, organised, and able to work independently
  • Fluency in English
